Welcome to the Roider Lab
Human Skin Biology for Dermatology Innovation
Based at the University of Basel, the Roider Lab advances human skin biology through a translational research program that connects mechanistic discovery with clinically relevant questions. We investigate how human skin protects, adapts, repairs, ages, and transitions into disease, providing insights that support new approaches in dermatology, oncology, inflammation, aging, and regenerative skin health.
Our research is anchored in ex vivo full-thickness skin explants, a human-relevant platform that preserves native tissue architecture and bridges basic discovery with clinical application. By integrating this system with melanoma biology, mitochondrial redox science, pigmentation research, spatial technologies, and robust functional readouts, we provide academic collaborators and pharmaceutical partners with a unique platform for target validation, compound evaluation, biomarker discovery, and translational innovations.
